Week Note 001, Deployment Sessions, Tech.Days Online, Blog Theming and more

Inspired by my former manager Matt Ballantine I thought I’d start a new little series on the blog of “week notes”. My plan is that these will be weekly, and help me to keep up blogging pace, and will also give you a little insight into the week of a guy at Microsoft. This week was mainly about videos, blogs and more.

  • Deployment Sessions – two more videos recorded in this series, great doing a video series it builds a key skill for evangelists distilling demos down into what’s important.
  • Getting creative with videos – one of the best bits of my job is using creative muscle, I’ve been working on some interesting ways of telling technology stories that will be used for our TechDays online event. Secret, can’t share until the day.
  • Pre-event execution – Getting ready for events doesn’t just happen. For TechDays online there’s a whole two days of technical IT pro content, that means I have to organise speakers, pull in bios and photos, review content, convince awesome people to speak, write interview questions and produce spreadsheets to track all the into.
  • Blog themes and host migrations – I’m currently in the process of working on a migration plan of this blog from GoDaddy to Windows Azure websites. This blog runs WordPress and it’s a great place to do that. I’ve started re-theming around a great theme I found on Some Random Dude’s website. I’ve A/B tested it a little and realised I have some work to do still.
  • Also personally we visited a therapist this week to have my daughters flat head syndrome looked into and are going for the helmet option – sadly that means she’s going to have to wear the helmet 23 hours a day for 4 months.

Weekly blog wrap up 13th September to 19th September

Last week was good, we released this IE9 Beta thing which people like quite a lot – me included.  I’ve embedded all my IE9 videos at the end of this post Weekly blog wrap up 13th September to 19th September.  We also flew a Spartan in by jet pack to take over Trafalgar square…I’ve spent most of the weekend playing Halo Reach, which is stunning.  Flying Spartan at the end of this post found by Sara on ubelly.com

Well that was a fun week for me, you might not have realised it but I wasn’t in the office I was enjoying the sun on the isle of Evissa.

However before I went I blogged up with all this goodness…

I can’t say it was the best week, but it wasn’t far off.

Weekly post wrap up July 26th to 30th

A great week recovering from a massive internal conference and getting to learn what this Microsoft place is all about.  With my chip firmly implanted (there is no chip by the way.  I’m Joking.  No I’m not. Yes I am) I’m getting into swing.  Most of this week I’ve spent delving into Intune and setting up my new demo beast…a Core i7 720 8GB monster from HP…un-boxing coming soon,  when I can find my camera.  So with that most of this week was fun stuff rather than technical depth.

Next week I’ll have stuff on the Intune Beta (no I will have it this time) and some other stuff.

Blah blah blah

Weekly wrap up – July 19th to 25th

Weekly wrap up July 19th to 25th

As usual this is my weekly wrap up of all the stuff I’ve posted to my blogs over the past week, a week where I was at a massive internal conference that was super awesome Weekly wrap up July 19th to 25th (you won’t believe what this picture is)  All the following were pre-posted, so nothing overly topical but some fun stuff, like mad-as-a-bag-of-frogs coffee and some really good pointers to great office resources.

What’s on the cards for this week….InTune (hopefully), more on Windows 7 deployment and a little BPOS and probably some random stuff as well as some Atlantan thoughts and the usual helping of off topic fun.

Stuff I blogged this week

Something I want to post is a wrap up of the week for the stuff I’ve blogged – long may it continue – this includes everything from my fire hose and not just tech stuff.  This week was my 3rd week at Microsoft and I already know I’m going to like it here…they’re a good bunch.  So to the stuff…

One thing that’s helped me get to know people here is the Outlook Social Connector: Get your social updates in Outlook

PDC10 is happening in Seattle this year, getting attendees closer to the dudes who make the cool stuff

What ever you do WAIK me up before you go go if you’re looking into deployment its the starting point…sorry for the puns awsome as @marcholmes described them!

Azure in a box is some info and thoughts on why containers are cool

What am I doing here… still not too sure, but it’s fun!

Brilliant video from top race drivers on why your really need a top team behind you Lewis & Jenson, one car, no team

Walk the tube because it’s healthier and you get less black snot!

I finally have a blue badge… enough said there I think

Water Walking Ball because all evangelists must learn to walk on water and this seems like a great hack.
