The end of a decade, the start of something new

Well there we have it, the end of a year and the end of a decade.  There’s just a few hours left so time to surface some of the best Window 7 utilities that I’ve been trying out over the past few weeks…

This project on Codeplex provides a really handy and flexible way to control what happens when your PC suspends and resumes.  Really handy if you run a HTPC.  Perhaps you have a device driver that needs a kick when you resume or maybe you need to have  a drive that needs a remap.  This is the tool.

Microsoft have added some new themes to the personalization site that you can access by right clicking the desktop and selecting Personalize then selecting the Get more themes online link.  Once there you’ll find new themes for dog and cat lovers, mountain climbers and twinkle wishers.  Oh and a nice Avatar theme.

Jumplist-Launcher

If you’ve got every app on your PC pinned to your Windows 7 task bar then you might like this little pearl.  Jumplist-Launcher lets you create a stack of icons on one and create a handy jump list launcher from it.  Very useful if you’re running short on space, or want to group some like icons.  I’ve done it with my browsers (Chrome is my browser de-jour).

I’m a massive fan of Interfacelift.com for wallpapers and this app will run very quietly and change your wallpaper a regular as clockwork.

That’s it for this year, hope you have a great New Year!
